Poolsbrook is a former mining village near Staveley in Chesterfield in North East Derbyshire. The village was formerly known as Spike.

The Solar Pyramid was an impressive sculpture proposed in Poolsbrook Country Park. When completed it would have taken the form of a 45 metre tall sundial, making it the world's largest artwork and over twice as tall as Angel of the North. It would have been visible from the M1 motorway to thousands of travellers every day. Sadly the project has been abandoned due to funding issues.

Poolsbrook Country Park was once the site of the former Ireland Colliery, but has been transformed from dereliction into a tremendous country park and amenities area.
