Air Crash SiteAir Crash Site With over 50 recorded air crashes in the Dark Peak, below is an account of one that still survives to this day.  Boeing RB-29A 44-61999, known as "Overexposed", of the 16th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, 91st Reconnaissance Group, 311th Air Division, Strategic Air Command, USAF, crashed at Higher Shelf Stones near Glossop 3rd November 1948. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> "Overexposed" was on a routine flight from RAF Scampton to American AFB Burtonwood. It is thought the aircraft crashed whilst descending through cloud. The site is well preserved with more to see than most - the remains of all four engines can be seen as well as the undercarriage legs, sections of wing and various other bits of twisted metal.
